About Allen Helms, C.P.M.
ALLEN HELMS, C.P.M., C.B.M.
Founder & President of C. A. Services
Allen Helms began learning the value of efficient materials management as a junior in high school while working nights in the shipping department of a plastic pipe manufacturing company. While pulling and preparing orders for shipment, he quickly learned how much extra work was involved when salesmen sold items that were not in stock.
In the Army he was responsible for a team of personnel management specialists who tracked and reported on the status of approximately 25,000 officer and enlisted personnel assigned to the VII Army Corps in West Germany.
Before entering the consulting business, Allen was Corporate Director of Purchasing and Materials Management for Friede Goldman Halter, a major shipbuilding conglomerate. There he focused on standardization of its materials management processes by integrating proven “Back-to-the-Basics” processes to improve efficiency and decrease costs for required goods and services.
In addition, thirty plus years of experience in both the supplier and user sides of the Materials Management Profession has provided him with the in-depth experience necessary to understand fully the value of using proven processes to ensure maximum shareholder value. Sixteen (16) years with the Halliburton-Kellogg Brown & Root organization included five (5) years as a Regional Subcontracts Manager responsible for setting up master agreements, selecting contractors and concurrently monitoring contractor execution on several multi-million dollar government and industrial construction projects. Significant experience in all aspects of managing major capital construction contracts is complimented by eleven(11) years experience as a Materials Manager and Subcontract Administrator and seven (7) years experience managing an industrial supply company. Allen also has in-depth experience in developing and implementing computerized management systems for heavy marine and industrial engineering and construction companies.
